Description
Taurine is a biogenic amino acid whose chemical name is 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid. It is made of two amino acids – cysteine and methionine. In the human body, it occurs mainly in the heart muscle, skeletal muscles, the brain and the eye’s retina.
Application
Synthetic taurine is a component of sports nutrition, energy drinks, pet food (e.g. as essential for cats).
